Also known as the Ayasa E Amara 20.

Amara is a popular variation within the minor modes, consistently omitting one note. This is the sixth note in the scale, also known as the minor sixth.

By omitting this tone, a more open and peaceful sound is created. It is very similar to pentatonic, although for that, one more tone would need to be omitted (the minor second).

Amara is an ideal tuning for free and intuitive playing. By omitting that one note, the minor sixth, a beautifully open tuning is created, comprising mainly notes that sound good together.

Even with free play, the chance of a beautiful and harmonious match is therefore very high. This makes this structure a friendly and inviting mood, which invites a grateful way of exploring your handpan.

What makes E Amara unique is the large number of bass tones. Because of the slightly higher root tone (E), there is room for extra low on the handpan. So at the bottom of this handpan, there are no less than four extra bass tones. Two tones that go even lower than the E (C and D), and two tones between the ding and the next tone (F# and G). These additions in the low end give enormous harmonic possibilities. It makes this tuning enormously musical and narrative.

Also, the higher fundamental (E) gives room for extra treble notes. This tuning does not have the standard number of 9 or 10 tones at the top, but as many as 13 tones. These extra high notes allow you to explore even more in terms of melody.

Another name for Amara is Celtic Minor. These two names refer to exactly the same structure.

Ember Steel

Ember Steel is a material based on stainless steel, with modifications made to affect the sound. These modifications also affect its appearance, giving Ember Steel its distinctive reddish-brown copper colour.

Ember Steel is characterised by an above-average reverb, with tones that articulate a broad spectrum. Ember Steel gives nice deep lows, but at the same time has quite a present high.

You can recognise this by a warm sound, with lots of sparkling highs at the same time. This broad spectrum, combined with that characteristic long reverb, makes Ember Steel an ideal material for some slower, meditative and calming playing.
