Amy Naylor came to the Netherlands on 29 October and gave a master class (in English) with us for handpan players slightly beyond the beginner level. This High Beginner / Intermediate masterclass was full of a lot of fun.

Amy Naylor

Amy is a fine accessible teacher and handpan player from England. She gives workshops, master classes, performances all over the world and has become known for her many tutorials on YouTube. So all participants had already come across her online somewhere in their handpan journey.

Amy is a songwriter and handpan artist who sings modern mantras and heart-centred pop music. Her concerts blur the line between “artist” and “audience”, encouraging co-creation and celebrating group singing. Amy believes the voice and sound are powerful healing tools, and so she uses her music with playfulness to invite love and self-expression.

Content of the master class:

This connection-focused master class focused on developing musical awareness and the ability to play with others. Through a series of mini-games and exercises, Amy and the participants worked together to play together. They explored silence, interlocking rhythms, rapid creativity and structured jams.
The aim of this workshop was to have fun, connect with others and enjoy each other's musical expressions. And we succeeded!

“It was fantastic, very inspiring! And Amy managed to create a safe and nice atmosphere very quickly. Thanks for organising it 🙌” - Jiska

“Very nice accessible workshop I found it, I think interesting for players of different levels. Amy has a fine open personality without big ego I think 🙏 furthermore not unimportant: fairly priced workshop for my feeling, did not feel like a commercial revenue model.” - Joris

“Super experience to play with so many ❤” - Joop
