What began as a home-based business in 2014 quickly grew to become a household name among handpan enthusiasts. After previous premises in Houten and Bunnik, HandPanShop moved to a spacious 225-square-metre shop on Traaij in Driebergen-Rijsenburg. The shop is now regarded as Europe’s leading specialist in handpans.
Visitors will find not only handpans, but also a wide range of instruments such as tongue drums, singing bowls, monochords and koshis. Each instrument has its own character and invites a different musical experience: playful, relaxing, meditative or, conversely, creative. No musical experience is required. Its accessibility appeals to a wide audience.
According to the staff, HandPanShop is not just about making music, but above all about the experience. Customers receive personalised guidance from musicians who play every day themselves and are keen to share their knowledge. There’s no rush or hard sell, just the space to take your time and discover which instrument suits you best.
Many visitors find playing the handpan and other intuitive instruments relaxing and soothing. It helps them to switch off for a while and get more in touch with their feelings, creativity and mindfulness. For many, this makes HandPanShop more than just a shop.
